Fall brings cooler weather, colorful leaves and the best doggy events of the year! Help support local pet rescues, watch dogs surf waves, and check out some Corgi butts on the beach.
Surf Dog Competition – September 23
The McKenna Subaru Surf City Surf Dog is the world-famous premier event on the dog surfing circuit. The event is free to attend, so bring your whole family and enjoy a weekend of fun. We’ll have a tent at the competition on Saturday and can’t wait to see you there!
Wiggle Waggle Walk – September 24
Join in at the 19th Annual Wiggle Waggle Walk on Sunday, September 24 at Brookside Park at the Rose Bowl to raise funds for the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA. This family-friendly event helps provide food, shelter and veterinary care to the thousands of animals who come through the shelter’s doors every year.
Race for The Rescues – October 14
The Rescue Train is a no-kill organization which is dedicated to eliminating animal suffering through hands-on rescue work, education, awareness, dedication to spay/neuter and support of other animal welfare organizations. Their Race for The Rescues has raised 3.25 million dollars to help animals in need. Join them on Saturday, October 14 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Strut Your Mutt – October 21
Best Friends Animal Society has been running the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals and building effective programs that reduce the number of animals entering shelters. This is all possible through generous donors and charity events like their Strut Your Mutt on Saturday, October 21, and in 14 other cities throughout the year! Be sure to join them at Exposition Park for this year’s event!
Fall Corgi Beach Day – October 28
So Cal Corgi Nation is hosting the Fall 2917 Corgi Beach Day in Huntington Beach! You won’t want to miss out on a day of fun at the biggest corgi paw-ty on the planet!
Haute Dog Howl’oween Parade – October 29
Pick out your full family’s costumes and visit the world’s largest Halloween pet event on October 30. Vendor and pet adoption fairs will be in the park from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Costumed kids and adults without dogs will lead the parade at 2:25 p.m., followed by the dogs at 2:30 p.m. Be sure to register early! Prizes include Petcurean dog food for a year to the overall winner! The top 20 prizes (bags of dog food from Nulo!) will also be given to the judges’ favorite entries! Haute Dogs is aiming to raise thousands for spay/neuter programs, adoption/rescue groups, Operation Santa Paws and other Long Beach service projects.
There are so many ways to give back to the dog community – donating money to a cause, starting a team or participating on someone else’s team for a run/walk, adopting a pet, spending money at an event, or even just spreading the word! We hope to see you at one of the amazing upcoming charity events.
