Essential oils for you and your pup

Fitdog Sports Club _ Dog Blog _ Essential Oils For You And Your Pup

Have you been hearing all about essential oils but not sure what all the hype is about? Or, are you a die hard, and have a diffuser at home, in the car, and at work?! At Fitdog, we are big fans of essential oils and all their amazing uses!

Fill your diffuser and roller balls with lavender for its calming and relaxing properties that promote peaceful sleep and ease feelings of tension. Lemon and lemongrass offer cleansing and purifying benefits. Eucalyptus and peppermint oils can be used to cleanse surfaces and the air & to help promote feelings of relaxation and clear breathing.

Best part… all of the above holds true for you AND your dog! Here is one of our favorite lines of pet-friendly, essential oil products for pets!

Mauro Pet Care Products are cruelty-free, shampoos and conditioners for your dog that are created with essential oils. Lavender, like in Mauro’s Lavender Body Mist, helps promote relaxation while eliminating odors.

The lemon and cedarwood oils in Mauro’s My Space: An Aromatherapy Pet Bed Spray help promote and reassure a daily routine for your dog, as well as a sense of personal space whether at home or while away.

Not all oils are good for your pups. Avoid using tea tree (often called Melaleuca oil) on and around your dogs. Tea tree oil is a popular treatment to kill bacteria and fungi or as insect repellents for humans, however, the Animal Poison Control Center has reported that dogs receive toxicity when exposed to tea tree oil. Symptoms most commonly reported were depression, lethargy, weakness, incoordination, muscle tremors and increased salivation or drooling, vomiting, skin rashes, collapse, and coma.

We love using Mauro products and are happy to use them in our Grooming Spa. Before using products with potentially harmful chemicals in them, try to see if there are alternatives you can use featuring essential oils that benefit your dog.
